My Husband Married My Estranged Sister While I Was Working His Wedding Reception
The Grand Ballroom Betrayal
The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was a sea of shimmering silk, sparkling crystal, and the clinking of expensive champagne flutes. I stood near the back, dressed in the stiff black-and-white uniform of the catering staff, adjusting a tray of appetizers. My husband, David, was supposed to be three thousand miles away in London, closing a major corporate merger. I had kissed him goodbye at Logan Airport just forty-eight hours prior, promising to keep the house warm until his return.
But then, the brass trumpets sounded, and the double doors of the ballroom swung wide open. The master of ceremonies stepped up to the microphone, his voice echoing off the high ceilings.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my absolute privilege to introduce, for the very first time, Mr. and Mrs. David Vance!"
My breath caught in my throat. I pushed past the other servers, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. Through the crowd of cheering guests, I saw him. David. He was wearing a custom charcoal tuxedo, his arm wrapped tightly around the waist of a beautiful bride in a lace gown. As she turned her head, my world shattered into a million sharp pieces. It was Amanda, my estranged half-sister.
I walked down the main aisle, my hands trembling so violently that the silver tray slipped from my fingers, crashing onto the polished marble floor. The sound echoed through the silent room as the music stopped. David froze, his face draining of all color. "Sarah?" he whispered, his eyes wide with terror.
”he whispered, his eyes wide with terror.
