The historic brick church was filled with the warm, golden glow of natural daylight, casting a serene ambiance over the rows of mahogany pews. Hanging prominently behind the altar was a large, pristine American flag, a symbol of the duty and honor that defined both of their lives. Ashley, a proud US Army captain with vibrant red hair, looked stunning in her green service uniform. Beside her, Andrew, a handsome US Air Force pilot with a crisp crew cut, stood tall in his blue flight suit. They had just exchanged vows, promising to love and protect each other through every battle life might throw their way.

As the recessional music began, they turned to face their guests. Hand-in-hand, they walked down the aisle, their laughter echoing through the sacred space. The camera glided backward, capturing their radiant smiles and the pure joy radiating from them. Guests clapped and cheered, celebrating a union that seemed written in the stars. It was a picture-perfect moment of military romance.

But as they reached the heavy oak doors at the back of the sanctuary, the celebratory atmosphere shattered. Standing in the entryway, silhouetted against the bright outdoor light, was General Vance, Andrew’s estranged father and one of the most powerful men in the military. Flanking him were two stern-faced military police officers.

Ashley’s smile faltered, but she tried to remain polite. "General Vance, I didn't think you would make it," she said softly.

The General did not offer a hand or a smile. His gaze was cold as ice. "Captain Ashley Miller, you are under arrest for the unauthorized possession and attempted transmission of classified military documents," he announced, his voice booming through the church.

Ashley gasped, turning to her new husband for support. But Andrew did not step forward to defend her. Instead, he slowly let go of her hand, taking a step back toward his father.

"I'm sorry, Ashley," Andrew said, his voice devoid of the warmth she had cherished. "But you should have left the past alone."
