An Arrogant Soldier Mocked an Old Veteran Until One Shot Revealed a Legendary Secret
The Legend of the Desert Range
The midday sun beat down mercilessly on the dusty Arizona shooting range, casting harsh, unforgiving shadows across the gravel. At sixty-nine, Edward did not look like the men who usually frequented this high-end facility. He wore a faded, weathered brown field jacket that had seen better decades, and his silver hair was cropped close. To the young, tactical-gear-obsessed shooters whispering near the benches, he looked like a relic of a bygone era, perhaps a lost tourist who had wandered off the highway.
Edward walked steadily toward the registration counter, his boots kicking up small puffs of dust. Standing near the counter was Hunter, a thirty-three-year-old soldier clad in pristine, expensive dark tactical gear. Hunter was the local champion, a man whose arrogance was as sharp as his shooting. Seeing the older man approach, Hunter stepped forward, blocking the path with a mocking grin.

"Are you here to compete? Or to beg for alms?" Hunter asked, his voice dripping with condescension.
His friends chuckled behind him, folding their arms in amusement. Edward did not flinch. He slowly reached into his pocket, rolling up his right sleeve to reveal a weathered, dark black wolf tattoo on his forearm. Hunter’s eyes flickered to the ink, but he quickly dismissed it, laughing loudly to cover any momentary hesitation. "What’s that, some old hunting club logo?" he sneered.
Without a word, Edward rented a standard, un-customized bolt-action rifle. He stepped up to the firing line, aiming at a target swaying in the wind eight hundred yards away. While Hunter continued to scoff, Edward took a single, calm breath and squeezed the trigger. A deafening crack shattered the air, followed immediately by the sharp, metallic clang of a perfect bullseye.
"I only need one shot," Edward said calmly, turning to look at the younger man.
Hunter’s jaw dropped. A tear of sheer disbelief and growing terror rolled down his cheek as he realized what the tattoo truly represented: the mark of the legendary Ghost Unit.
