The Prophecy of the Ravine

The damp, heavy fog of Cresthaven Ravine clung to the towering stone walls like a shroud. For generations, the deep gorge had remained a place of solemn mystery, guarded by the legend of the ancient blade embedded deep within a split monolith. Many had tried to claim it, but the sword remained unmoved, a silent judge of the realm's true leader. Today, the ground trembled under the heavy tread of the King’s elite guard, led by the legendary champion, Borin.

Borin was a mountain of a man, clad in charcoal-colored plate mail that had survived dozens of bloody campaigns. His massive, blonde-bearded face was set in a grim expression of absolute confidence. Standing before the split rock, he spat on his calloused hands and gripped the leather-bound hilt of the mythical weapon. He pulled with a roar that echoed off the damp stone walls, his muscles straining against the heavy armor. Yet, despite his legendary strength, the sword did not budge even a fraction of an inch.

Sweating and defeated, Borin released his grip and stumbled backward. He looked at his squad of battle-hardened soldiers, his pride deeply wounded.

"If I couldn't pull it out, no one can,"
he grumbled, dismissively waving his hand.

But from the shadow of the towering soldiers stepped Arthur, a clean-cut yet mud-stained youth wearing nothing but a frayed woolen vest. The soldiers snickered, expecting the boy to be crushed by his own arrogance. Arthur ignored their mockery. He walked slowly toward the ancient stone, his eyes locked on the hilt. Standing before the monument, he looked up with quiet resolve.

"I am Arthur. And I am going to claim you,"
he whispered. As his dirt-covered hand closed tightly around the leather grip, a strange, resonant hum vibrated through the cold, foggy air.
