My Wealthy Parents Sold Me Out for an Empire, But I Exposed Their Darkest Secret
The Golden Trap
The dining room of the Sterling manor was a masterpiece of old-world opulence. A massive, gold-plated mirror reflected the glittering light of a crystal chandelier, casting a warm, deceptive glow over the mahogany table. But for Victoria, the air in the room was suffocating. She stood rigid in her elegant navy blue gown, her heart hammering against her ribs as she looked at the two people who had raised her.
Her mother, Eleanor, stood close, looking impeccably poised in a striking emerald green dress. Eleanor’s short blonde hair was perfectly coiffed, and her face wore a mask of serene authority. Beside her stood Arthur, Victoria’s father, his thin silver hair catching the light as he adjusted the cuffs of his classic black suit. To any outsider, they were the picture of high-society perfection. To Victoria, they were strangers holding her hostage.

"You planned this behind my back," Victoria whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of shock and betrayal.
She looked from her father's iron grip on her arm to her mother’s cold, unblinking eyes. They had just informed her of her upcoming nuptials to Julian Vance, a ruthless billionaire known more for his hostile takeovers than his humanity. It was a transaction, pure and simple, and she was the commodity.
Eleanor reached out, her fingers patting Victoria's shoulder with a chillingly superficial tenderness.
"It's for the family, Victoria," Eleanor said, her voice smooth and entirely devoid of maternal warmth. "You must think of the bigger picture."
Arthur’s grip tightened on her arm, his voice leaving no room for argument.
"You have no choice," he added firmly, his eyes boring into hers. "The arrangements have already been finalized."
Tears of anger stung Victoria’s eyes. She pulled her arm free from her father’s grasp, turned on her heel, and walked away, the heavy fabric of her gown rustling against the marble floor. But as she retreated down the grand hallway, she paused in the shadows. Behind her, Eleanor and Arthur grasped hands, their cold masks slipping into victorious grins.
"She'll fall in line," Eleanor whispered, a soft, mocking laugh escaping her lips.
"She always does," Arthur replied, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
”Arthur replied, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
