The Wounded Soldier Who Saved My Life in the Trench Was My Long-Lost Fiancée
A Miracle in the Dust
The desert heat was suffocating, but it was the choking black smoke from the burning supply truck that made breathing nearly impossible. Sgt. William Cole pressed his back against the crumbling dirt wall of the trench. Bullets zipped overhead, kicking up showers of sand. His squad was pinned down, low on ammunition, and facing certain death. Out of nowhere, a lone soldier had braved the open crossfire to bring them the crate of ammo they desperately needed. But the cost was devastating.
Now, that brave soldier lay bleeding on a canvas stretcher in the middle of the trench. William knelt beside her, his hands trembling as he tried to assist the medic, Samuel, who was frantically working under his red-cross helmet.

"Stay with me, don't you dare fade now!" William desperately pleaded, his voice cracking over the roar of the nearby flames.
Samuel cut open her tactical jacket, his face pale with worry. He applied heavy pressure to a deep shrapnel wound in her abdomen, but the crimson stain kept spreading rapidly across her uniform.
"Massive blood loss! She won't last, hold her steady!" Samuel yelled, his voice strained with panic.
William looked down in utter anguish, holding her cold hand. This stranger had just sacrificed everything to give them a fighting chance.
"She, she saved all of us..." William stammered, tears mixing with the dust on his cheeks.
He reached up to gently wipe the thick layers of dirt and dried blood from the soldier's face, wanting her to feel some humanity in her final moments. But as the grime cleared, William froze. The blonde hair, the curve of her jaw, the small crescent-shaped scar near her left temple—it was instantly recognizable.
His eyes widened in sudden, shocked recognition. His heart stopped, and the sounds of the battlefield faded into a ringing silence.
"Wait, this can't be... it's her!" he whispered, his voice trembling with a mix of terror and disbelief.
Before him lay Ashley, the fiancée he had mourned and buried five years ago.
