The Rude Watch Store Manager Mocked an Elderly Woman—Then She Saw the Founder's Photo
The Forgotten Customer
The afternoon sun filtered through the grand, arched windows of Aethelgard & Co., casting a warm, golden glow over the polished marble floors and the sparkling crystal chandeliers. It was a temple of luxury, a place where time was measured in diamonds and gold. Liam, a young clerk dressed in a sharp navy blue vest, was meticulously polishing a display case when the heavy brass doors slowly opened. An elderly woman in a simple wheelchair rolled inside. She wore a faded coat that had seen better decades, her snowy hair pulled back in a neat bun. Her presence stood in stark contrast to the opulent surroundings.
Clara navigated her wheelchair toward the central counter, her eyes wide with a mixture of nostalgia and anxiety. With trembling hands, she reached into her pocket and placed a worn, scratched vintage watch onto the pristine glass display. The leather strap was frayed, and the silver casing was heavily tarnished.

"Could you please help me fix this?" Clara asked, her voice a soft whisper. "My husband wore it every day, and it stopped ticking last week. It is all I have left of him."
Liam’s heart softened. He picked up the watch, examining its delicate gears with genuine respect. But before he could speak, the clicking of sharp heels echoed through the room. Sarah, the boutique’s stern manager, marched over. Her tailored black suit was immaculate, her expression cold as ice. She snatched the watch from Liam's hand and tossed it back into Clara's lap.
"We don't repair trash here," Sarah sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. "This is an elite boutique, not a charity shop. Please leave."
Liam felt a surge of indignation. He stepped forward, picked up the watch, and gently fastened it back onto Clara’s frail wrist.
"To her, it matters," Liam said firmly, looking his manager dead in the eye.
Sarah leaned in, her eyes flashing with fury. "You're going to lose your job over this, Liam," she whispered menacingly. But Clara calmly reached into a faded envelope, pulling out a vintage photograph. "My husband wore it here," she said, pointing to a young man in the photo. Liam looked from the photo to the massive portrait of the store's legendary founder on the wall. "Is he the founder?" Liam gasped. Clara smiled softly. "And I am his wife," she replied, leaving them completely stunned.
