Cruel Manager Tried to Evict a Poor Widow, but Her Watch Revealed a Shocking Truth
The Unwelcome Visitor
The rain poured heavily outside the glass facade of Sterling & Co., the city's most prestigious watch boutique. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and opulent, lit by magnificent crystal chandeliers that cast a golden glow over polished glass counters. Liam, a young assistant dressed in a sharp navy vest, was carefully polishing a diamond-encrusted timepiece. He loved his job, but he despised the cold, corporate environment fostered by the store's manager, Sarah. To Sarah, customers were only worth the balance in their bank accounts.
The heavy glass doors slid open, and a draft of cold air swept in. An elderly woman named Clara rolled inside in a weathered wheelchair, her coat damp from the storm. She looked out of place among the wealthy patrons. Clara slowly approached Liam's counter, her hands trembling as she placed a worn, heavily scratched vintage watch onto the pristine glass surface. Before Liam could speak, Sarah marched over, her heels clicking sharply on the marble floor.

"We don't repair trash here," Sarah sneered, her voice dripping with condescension. "Please leave before you ruin our aesthetic."
Liam felt a surge of indignation. Ignoring his manager's glaring eyes, he gently picked up the watch, dusted it off, and carefully fastened it back onto Clara's frail wrist.
"To her, it matters," Liam said softly but firmly, looking directly at his manager.
Sarah leaned in close, her eyes narrowing into slits. "You're going to lose your job over this, Liam," she whispered, her voice laced with venom.
Clara, however, remained incredibly calm. With a quiet dignity, she reached into her coat and pulled out a faded, yellowed envelope. From it, she extracted an old black-and-white photograph of a handsome young man standing in front of the very same boutique decades ago.
"My husband wore it here," Clara murmured, looking up at Liam.
Liam's eyes dived from the vintage photo to the massive, gold-framed portrait of the store's legendary founder, Arthur Sterling, hanging on the back wall. The resemblance was uncanny. "Is he the founder?" Liam gasped. Clara offered a serene smile and replied, "And I am his wife," leaving both Liam and Sarah frozen in absolute shock.
