The Ironclad Tactical Range was a concrete sanctuary of noise and adrenaline. On any given Saturday, the air was thick with the scent of gun oil and the deafening rhythm of target practice. It was the domain of the young, the fast, and the fiercely competitive. Twenty-four-year-old Logan stood at the center of it all, his grey polo shirt pristine, his posture radiating the easy confidence of a reigning regional champion. He was surrounded by a small circle of admirers, basking in the glow of his latest high-scoring run.

Then, the heavy glass doors swung open, and Miriam walked in.

An Unexpected Competitor

At sixty-six, Miriam looked entirely out of place. Her salt-and-pepper hair was pulled back in a neat, sensible clip, and she wore a soft beige cardigan that looked more suited for a quiet afternoon library than a high-intensity tactical range. Logan immediately smirked, nudging his friend. He stepped forward, blocking her path to the registration gate with an arrogant grin.

"This is not a retirement club, ma'am," Logan said, his voice dripping with condescension.

A few onlookers chuckled, expecting the older woman to apologize and turn around. Instead, Miriam’s expression remained entirely serene. Without saying a word, she reached into her cardigan pocket, pulled out her membership card, and slid it through the electronic reader. The gate chimed, flashing a vibrant green. Miriam stepped past the stunned young champion, looking him dead in the eye.

"I came here to compete," she said quietly.

She moved to lane four and unzipped a faded canvas bag. While Logan watched with crossed arms, expecting a disaster, Miriam drew a classic steel-framed pistol. Her posture shifted instantly; the gentle grandmotherly aura vanished, replaced by a terrifying, razor-sharp focus. She raised the weapon. In a blur of motion, she fired five rapid shots downrange. The deafening cracks echoed through the facility, and when the target clicked to a halt, the crowd gasped. Every single round had pierced the exact center of the bullseye, creating one clean, ragged hole.

Miriam calmly lowered her weapon and walked to the front desk. She picked up the pen and signed the official tournament registration form. Abraham, the sixty-four-year-old head official, adjusted his glasses to read the signature. Suddenly, his hands began to tremble. He lowered his glasses, staring at the name in absolute disbelief.

"Wait," Abraham whispered, his voice shaking. "That name..."
