The dining hall of the Sterling villa was usually a place of quiet, suffocating opulence. Tonight, however, the air under the ornate crystal chandelier was thick with hostility. Arthur Sterling, his silver hair gleaming under the warm lights, stood at the head of the mahogany table. His tailored charcoal blazer was immaculate, but his face was a mask of unbridled fury. He pointed a trembling finger directly at his eldest daughter, Natalie.

The Ultimatum

"Get out of here! And resign as CEO," Arthur roared, his voice echoing off the high ceilings.

Natalie, elegant in her cream silk blouse and dark trousers, didn't flinch. Behind her father, her sister Victoria and stepmother Claire watched in stunned silence, though Victoria's eyes held a glint of triumph. Arthur had just thrown a heavy leather folder onto the table, the sharp edge grazing Natalie’s lip. A tiny droplet of blood appeared, but instead of crying, Natalie slowly reached up to touch the cut. She looked at her finger, then looked back at her father with a cold, devastating smile.

She stepped closer to Arthur, the heels of her boots clicking sharply against the marble floor. She pulled out her smartphone, her movements deliberate and calm.

"Dad... did you forget?" she asked softly.

Before Arthur could answer, Natalie spoke into the phone.

"Evelyn, activate the board's emergency protocol."

Victoria gasped, stepping forward.

"Natalie, what are you doing?" she shouted.

Natalie didn't look back. She turned on her heel and walked out through the large glass French doors, leaving her family in the ruins of their own betrayal. But Natalie knew this was just the opening salvo in a war she had spent months preparing for.
