The mist hung low over the Dragon’s Teeth, a treacherous mountain pass where the wind whispered of ancient legends. Wedged deep within a cracked, massive boulder lay the Empyrean Blade, a legendary sword of shimmering steel and gold that had defied every king, lord, and warrior for three centuries. Today, the mightiest men in the realm had gathered to try their hand, desperate to claim the empty throne.

The Knight's Failure

Borin, a broad-shouldered, blonde-bearded warrior clad in heavy black iron armor, stepped forward. He was a champion of a hundred battles, his strength legendary across the northern territories. He gripped the leather-wrapped hilt with his massive hands, his muscles bulging as he strained against the stone. The heavy iron of his armor groaned under the immense pressure. He grunted, his face turning a deep crimson, but the sword remained stubbornly wedged in the cracked stone. Not even a single flake of dust fell from the boulder.

Sighing in frustration, Borin released his grip and turned back to his crew, grumbling loudly:

"If I couldn't pull it out, no one can."

A heavy silence fell over the crowd. The hope of finding a true leader seemed to vanish into the misty air. But then, a slender figure stepped out from the shadows of the rocks. It was Arthur, an ash-smeared young man dressed in a simple, ragged tunic. He was nothing but a kitchen servant, his hands scarred from hard labor and his face smudged with soot. Yet, as he walked past the towering, armored knights, there was no fear in his eyes.

He stood before the massive boulder, looking up at the majestic hilt.

"I am Arthur. And I am going to claim you," he said with quiet resolve.

The crowd watched in stunned silence as Arthur reached out. His grimy hand squeezed the leather-wrapped hilt. As his fingers closed around the grip, a strange, warm hum echoed through the mountain pass, and the ancient stone began to glow.
