He Saved a Drowning Wolf From the Ice, Only to Find Himself Surrounded
The Icy Rescue
Ethan had spent most of his life in the rugged Montana wilderness, but the winter of 2024 was unlike anything he had ever experienced. The temperatures had plummeted well below zero, wrapping the valley in a thick, suffocating mist. As he walked along the edge of the frozen lake near his cabin, a low, desperate whimper broke the silence. Intrigued and cautious, Ethan followed the sound onto the ice. There, in a jagged hole where the current had kept the water from freezing solid, a beautiful silver wolf was drowning.
She was fighting a losing battle, her claws slipping uselessly against the slick edges of the ice. Her hindquarters were fully submerged in the black, freezing water. Ethan knew the risks. Walking onto thin ice without safety gear was a death sentence. But looking into the animal's terrified, pleading eyes, he couldn't just walk away. Kneeling on the cold surface, he crawled closer, feeling the ice groan beneath his weight.

"Come on, come on, you can do it!" Ethan shouted, his voice echoing in the empty, frozen landscape.
He reached down and grabbed the wolf’s heavy, wet paws. She bared her teeth in a fleeting instinct of defense, but she was too exhausted to bite. With a primal roar of effort, Ethan pulled with all his strength. His muscles burned, and the freezing water splashed onto his face. With one final, desperate heave, he dragged the wolf out of the abyss, falling backward onto the hard ice. As he lay there gasping for air, the rescued wolf collapsed beside him, shivering violently. But the relief was short-lived. Through the thick mist at the edge of the forest, several dark silhouettes began to move toward them.
