The air inside the grand lobby of the Sterling mansion was suffocating. Under the warm, amber glow of the massive crystal chandelier, Jessica stood trembling, her hand resting protectively over her six-month pregnant belly. A single, painful scratch marred her left cheek, a parting gift from her mother-in-law Catherine’s sharp diamond ring. Tears streamed down Jessica's face, ruining her pale blue satin gown.

Before her stood Michael, the man she had promised to love forever. But there was no love in his eyes—only fury.

"How dare you speak to my mother like that in my house?" Michael yelled, his voice echoing off the sweeping mahogany staircase.

Jessica looked at him, her heart breaking into a million pieces. The husband who had once promised to protect her was now her chief tormentor.

"Your mother humiliated me," Jessica whimpered, her voice cracking under the weight of her tears. "And you heard every word. You stood there and did nothing."

From the grand staircase, Catherine looked down at them, a cruel, satisfied sneer plastered across her face. She adjusted her pearls, basking in her triumph.

"Know your place, girl," Catherine hissed, her voice dripping with icy venom. "You never belonged to this family. You are nothing but a common street girl we took in."

Before Michael could offer another harsh word, the heavy oak entrance doors swung open with a thunderous crash. A cold, sharp wind swept into the lobby, extinguishing the warmth of the room.

Standing in the doorway was Richard, an imposing figure dressed in a tailored black overcoat, flanked by four tall, stern-faced security guards. Richard’s presence was commanding, radiating an undeniable aura of immense wealth and power. He took one look at his daughter’s tear-stained face and the scratch on her cheek, and his eyes turned to pure ice.

"My daughter, pack your things," Richard commanded, his deep voice slicing through the silence.

Michael gasped, stepping back in absolute shock. He had never met Jessica's father, believing her lie that she was an orphan from a simple background. Now, looking at the powerful man standing before him, Michael realized he had made a catastrophic mistake.

Richard stepped forward, his boots clicking heavily against the marble floor. He stopped inches from Michael, glaring down at him with lethal intensity.

"And you," Richard warned, his voice low and dangerous, "will answer for every single tear."
