The Crack in the Dynasty

The dining room of the Sterling manor was built to showcase absolute power. Underneath a massive, sparkling crystal chandelier, the mahogany table stretched out like a battlefield. Arthur Sterling, his sharp features hardened by years of unchecked authority, stood at the head of the table. His grey hair was perfectly slicked back, his slate suit immaculate, but his face was distorted by a rage that had been brewing for months.

"Get out of here! And resign as CEO," Arthur roared, his finger pointing like a loaded weapon.

Without waiting for his response, I raised my phone and spoke clearly into the receiver, where my executive assistant had been waiting on an open line. "Evelyn, activate the board's emergency protocol."

The words hit the room like a physical blow. Victoria gasped loudly, her hands flying to her collar. "Natalie, what are you doing?" she cried out, her voice trembling with sudden panic. But I didn't answer. I turned my back on my family, my heels clicking sharply against the marble floor as I walked out through the grand glass doors into the cold night air.
