My Father's Debt Became My Nightmare Until They Learned My Real Identity
Cornered in the Shadows
The damp, heavy air of the basement smelled of rust and decades of neglected secrets. Elena’s heels clicked sharply against the concrete as she was shoved forward, the harsh glare of the flickering fluorescent overhead lights blinding her for a moment. She had been snatched from the street in broad daylight, thrown into the back of a black SUV, and brought to this subterranean nightmare. She looked around, her heart hammering against her ribs, though she refused to let the panic show on her face.
Before she could find her bearings, a massive shadow loomed over her. Marcus, a burly man with a shaved head and a black tank top that stretched over his muscular frame, stepped into her path. Without a word, his hand shot out like a viper, gripping her throat and pinning her brutally against a heavy metal door. The cold steel bit into her spine through her grey Henley shirt, and she gasped for air as his fingers tightened.

"Your father's debt is now yours," Marcus growled, his face inches from hers.
On the rusty staircase nearby, two buzz-cut henchmen leaned against the railing, their cruel laughter echoing through the narrow corridor. To them, Elena was nothing more than an easy target, a helpless girl left behind to pay for a dead man's mistakes. But they didn't know who they were truly dealing with.
Elena stared directly into Marcus's cold, menacing eyes. Despite the lack of oxygen, her gaze remained steady and sharp. She didn't beg. She didn't cry.
"Do you even know who I am?" she asked, her voice low and surprisingly calm.
The henchmen laughed louder, mocking her defiance. Marcus grinned, thinking she was bluffing. But in a split second, Elena's training kicked in. With a swift, calculated strike, she slammed her forearm against his grip, breaking his hold instantly. She slipped out of his reach and dropped into a perfect defensive stance, her eyes locked on her captors. The laughter on the stairs died instantly.
