The airport baggage claim was a chaotic symphony of whirling conveyor belts, shouting travelers, and the heavy thud of suitcases. In the middle of this bustling terminal, six-year-old Leo stood perfectly still. He was a tidy boy, dressed in a smart red vest and a crisp white shirt, his short brown curls neatly combed. But his eyes were wide with a profound, sudden shock. He was staring directly at another child who had just stepped out from behind a massive pillar.

The other boy was the exact same height, with the same short brown curls and the identical shape of his jaw. But he was smudged with dark dirt, wearing faded, ripped denim overalls, and looking around with a skittish, fearful gaze. Leo took a slow step forward, his voice barely audible over the roaring crowd.

"Wait... Why do you look like me? I thought I was the only one," Leo whispered.

Before the dirty boy could answer, a woman’s frantic voice pierced the noise of the terminal. Sarah, a Caucasian woman wearing a grey cardigan, ran up, her face pale with desperation.

"Rowan! Oh my god, where are you?" she cried, her eyes darting around.

But as she reached the boys, she froze mid-stride. Her breath hitched in her throat. She looked from Leo to the dirty boy, and then back again. The resemblance was undeniable. They were identical twins. Leo pointed a trembling finger at the stranger, looking up at his mother with utter confusion.

"Mom, why does he have my same face?" Leo asked.

Sarah gasped, dropping her purse to the floor. She slowly sank to her knees in front of the dirty boy. Her eyes welled with tears as she noticed a thick, dirty cord around his neck. Hanging from it was a heavy, rusted metal tag. With trembling fingers, Sarah reached out and lifted the tag. Etched into the oxidized metal were the words: BABY #2.

A cold dread washed over her. She stared at the tag, then at the child she had been told died in the maternity ward six years ago. Her face twisted in terror as she whispered,

"Oh no..."
