The Fall at Blackwood Manor

The winter wind howled through the towering spires of Blackwood Manor, carrying with it a biting frost that seemed to freeze the very air. On the stone balcony, Edith stood shivering. She wore a light turquoise gown, a stark contrast to the dark, unforgiving stone of her family estate. Her auburn hair whipped wildly around her face as she stared at her husband, Lewis, whose eyes burned with a terrifying, unfamiliar rage. He wore a heavy wool overcoat, towering over her like a shadow.

“You always make me the villain, Edith!” Lewis roared, his voice cutting through the tempest. His hands gripped her shoulders with bruising force, pushing her backward against the low stone railing. The cold stone bit into her spine, but the terror in her chest was far colder.

“Lewis, please! We can talk about this!” Edith pleaded, her breath forming white plumes in the freezing air. “I know what you did, but we can fix it!”

But there was no mercy in Lewis’s eyes. Behind him, framed by the warm light of the French doors, stood Stella, Edith’s own sister. Dressed in a brilliant ruby evening gown, Stella watched the struggle in absolute silence. She didn't scream. She didn't run for help. Her cold, detached gaze sealed Edith’s fate. Below, on the snow-covered grounds, Julian looked up. In his charcoal coat, he was a solitary figure against the white expanse. He shouted, his voice muffled by the wind, but he was too far to stop what was coming.

With one final, violent shove, Lewis let go. Edith felt the terrifying sensation of weightlessness as she tumbled backward over the railing, plunging into the dark, snowy abyss below.
