A Terrifying Prison Giant Tried to Break Me, But My Secret Changed Everything
Previously: When Elena was framed and sent to a maximum-security prison, she became the prime target of the yard's most feared giant. But Jax didn't know who he was truly messing with.
A Dangerous Gamble
The roaring crowd pressed closer, hungry for violence. Jax lunged forward, his massive hand wrapping around Elena's collar, lifting her slightly off the ground. To anyone watching, she was seconds away from being crushed. But as Jax pulled her close, his face twisted in rage, Elena leaned in and whispered a single name into his ear: Marcus.
The giant froze. The anger in his eyes was instantly replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated shock. Marcus was his younger brother, who had supposedly taken his own life in a solitary cell two years ago. Jax had never believed the official story, but he had never been able to prove otherwise.

"I know who killed him, Jax," Elena whispered rapidly, her voice barely audible over the din of the yard. "The warden had him silenced because Marcus found the smuggling logs. And the warden framed me because I have the evidence. He sent me here to die by your hands."
Jax’s grip on her collar loosened. He glanced up at the warden’s balcony, where Warden Henderson stood watching through binoculars, a smug smile on his face. Jax realized the trap. If he killed Elena, he would be doing the warden's dirty work and burying the truth about his brother forever. But if he did nothing, the warden would know they were conspiring.
"We have to make it look real," Jax muttered, his knuckles turning white. "Hit me."
Before she could answer, Jax swung a massive fist. Elena ducked, the punch whistling past her ear and shattering the concrete wall behind her. Acting on instinct, Elena grabbed his outstretched arm, using his own momentum to execute a flawless shoulder throw. The massive giant crashed to the dusty ground with a deafening thud. The yard went dead silent. Nobody had ever seen Jax on his back. Before the guards could react, Jax grabbed her ankle, dragging her down as they staged a brutal, chaotic scramble in the dust, whispering their plan between heavy blows.
