An Arrogant Soldier Attacked an Ordinary Woman in the Mess Hall, Unaware of Her Real Identity
Previously: When Sergeant Luke grabbed Jessica by the hair in a crowded military canteen, he thought she was just an intruder. He had no idea she held his entire career in her hands.
The Tables Turn
Luke merely laughed at her warning, waving his hand dismissively as he ordered two MPs to escort her out. He believed he was entirely in the right, protecting his base from an intrusive civilian. He returned to his lunch, boasting to his squad about how he had "handled" the intruder. He had no idea that his career was already unraveling.
Jessica walked briskly across the dusty parade grounds, ignoring the whispers of the soldiers she passed. She bypassed the security desk at the headquarters building, flashing a specialized black credential card that made the guards instantly snap to attention. She marched straight into the office of the Base Commander, General Arthur Vance.

When the General saw his niece disheveled and visibly shaken, his face hardened. After hearing her account of the assault in the canteen, he immediately ordered the military police to arrest Sergeant Luke and bring him to the office. When Luke walked through the door ten minutes later, he was still wearing a smug grin, expecting a commendation. That grin died the moment he saw Jessica sitting calmly next to the General.
"Sergeant," General Vance growled, the temperature in the room dropping to freezing. "Do you have any idea who you assaulted today?"
Luke swallowed hard, his face turning an ashen grey. He stammered, trying to justify his actions, but the General cut him off with a slam of his fist on the desk.
"This is Colonel Jessica Vance," the General roared. "She is the Chief Military Inspector sent directly from the Pentagon. And you just put your hands on her."
The arrogant sergeant looked as if he might faint. The power dynamic had completely shattered, and he was staring down the barrel of a court-martial. But the nightmare was about to get even worse for the abusive sergeant.
