Previously: When an arrogant young soldier mocks a rugged veteran at a desert shooting range, a single, impossible shot reveals a legendary secret that brings the bully to his knees.

A Ghost from the Past

The silence at the shooting range was heavy, broken only by the whistling desert wind. Kyle’s buddies looked back and forth between the perfect bullseye on the monitor and their trembling leader. They didn't understand why Kyle, usually so fearless and arrogant, had suddenly gone pale, his confident posture completely shattered.

"Kyle, what's wrong with you?"
one of his friends asked, stepping forward.
"It was a lucky shot, that's all. The old guy got lucky."

"Shut up!"
Kyle snapped, his voice cracking with a mixture of fear and profound respect. He never took his eyes off Frank.
"You don't know who this is. You don't know what that mark means."

Kyle knew the stories. Kyle gasped, stepping closer as he read the name stamped into the metal: David Miller.

"Do you recognize this name, son?"
Frank asked, his deep voice carrying the weight of a thousand untold stories.

Kyle’s knees buckled. David Miller was his father—a decorated war hero who had tragically lost his life in a classified rescue mission twenty years ago. Kyle had joined the military to walk in his father's footsteps, but he had lost his way, replacing his father's humility with empty, boastful pride.
