Previously: When a young boy interrupted Lawrence's high-society engagement party with a wild accusation, everyone thought he was a troublemaker—until a secret in a clutch purse changed everything.

Unlocking the Deception

Lawrence’s hands trembled as his fingers wrapped around the designer clutch. Diana lunged forward, her manicured nails clawing at his sleeve in a desperate bid to stop him, but Gregory calmly yet firmly stepped between them, blocking her path. The high-society guests watched in stunned silence, their whispers rising like a wave. Lawrence unzipped the purse and pulled out its contents. First was a small, unmarked glass vial filled with a clear, odorless liquid. Next was a glossy photograph.

Lawrence stared at the image, the color draining from his face. It was a photograph of Diana wrapped in the arms of Arthur, Lawrence’s estranged and bitter stepbrother. On the back, a chilling message was written in elegant cursive: "Soon, my love. Just one sip, and his entire empire belongs to us." The betrayal hit Lawrence like a physical blow. The woman he loved, the woman he was about to marry, had planned to poison him to inherit his estate.

Diana fell to her knees, weeping tears of frustration rather than remorse.

"Lawrence, please, he forced me! You don't understand!"
she sobbed, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. Lawrence turned to the young boy, Carter, who was standing nearby, catching his breath.

"Who are you, son? How did you know about this?"
Lawrence asked, his voice thick with emotion.

Carter wiped a tear from his dusty cheek. "My dad worked for Arthur," the boy explained. "He overheard them planning to poison you. When my dad tried to warn your security weeks ago, Arthur framed him for embezzlement and had him arrested. I knew I had to stop her today."

Just as Carter finished speaking, a sleek black sedan roared up the estate's driveway, screeching to a halt near the garden gates. The passenger door opened, and Arthur himself stepped out, a smug grin on his face—completely unaware that his elaborate plot had just collapsed.
