Previously: When Daniel accused his sister Paige of tearing their family apart, he didn't realize she held the one document that would expose his years of deception to their unsuspecting mother.

For a long moment, the only sound in the cabin was the crackle of the dying fire. Paige felt the walls closing in. She looked at her mother, ready to confess her deepest shame, ready to accept her fate if it meant saving Marian from Daniel's greed.

"Do it," Paige said quietly, her eyes filling with tears. "Call them, Daniel. I won't let you rob Mom anymore, even if it means I have to pay for my past."

Daniel smiled, reaching for his phone, but before he could dial, Marian stood up. She walked over to the table, her posture straight and regal. She didn't look at Daniel; instead, she looked directly at Paige.

The Mother's Choice

"Put the phone down, Daniel," Marian said, her voice echoing with an authority that brooked no argument. "And don't bother bluffing. I’ve known about the Boston accident since the morning after it happened."

Paige stared at her mother in shock. Marian reached out, gently touching Paige's cheek.

"I hired the lawyers, Paige. I paid for the damages and made sure the owner of the vehicle was fully compensated without filing charges. I wanted you to carry the weight of your mistake so you would grow, but you were never in danger of prison. I took care of it."

Daniel’s face drained of color as his leverage evaporated into thin air. Marian turned her cold, piercing gaze onto her son.

"But you, Daniel," Marian continued, "you stole from your own blood to cover your failures. There are no lawyers who can save you from what you've done."

Marian picked up her phone and dialed the local sheriff's office, her voice steady as she reported the grand theft. As the sirens echoed in the distance, Paige realized that while some secrets have the power to destroy, the truth has an even greater power to liberate.
