Previously: When three young bullies confront a quiet elder fishing on a misty lake dock, they have no idea they are dealing with the billionaire owner of their company.

The Tables Turn

Thomas stood up slowly, his tall frame rising to its full height. Despite his advanced years, he possessed a quiet, imposing strength that seemed to catch the three young men off guard for a brief moment. He looked directly into Derek's eyes, refusing to back down even a single inch.

"You boys should learn some manners," Thomas said, his voice low and steady. "This lake has been here long before you, and it will be here long after you're gone."

Derek laughed, stepping even closer, his chest puffed out in a desperate attempt to maintain his intimidation. "We don't care about your stories, old man. We work for the development company that bought this entire shoreline. We make the rules here now. If you don't pack up your garbage and leave, we'll throw you in the freezing water ourselves." He reached out and shoved Thomas's shoulder hard.

But Thomas stood like an old oak tree, barely budging. Before the confrontation could escalate further, the roar of a powerful engine echoed through the pine forest. A sleek, black luxury SUV sped down the gravel road, kicking up dust before coming to a sudden halt near the dock. The door flung open, and a man in a sharp, tailored suit stepped out, his face pale with anxiety.

It was Richard Vance, the regional director of the development company. The three boys immediately smiled, thinking their boss had arrived to help them handle the stubborn old man.

"Mr. Vance!" Jason called out eagerly. "We're just clearing this old squatter off the property for you!"

But Richard didn't look at the boys. His eyes were locked on Thomas, and his face drained of all color. He ran down the wooden dock as fast as he could. When he reached the group, he didn't confront Thomas. Instead, he bowed his head in deep respect and spoke in a trembling voice.

"Mr. Sterling," Richard whispered, his voice shaking. "I am so incredibly sorry. I had no idea my men were treating you this way."

The three youths froze, their smug smiles instantly vanishing as the cold weight of reality set in.
