I Caught My Best Friend in My Bed, But Her Confession Ruined Everything
Previously: When Chloe came home early to surprise her husband, she found her best friend Sarah in her bed. But the truth behind the betrayal was far worse than she ever imagined.
A Tangled Web of Lies
I expected her to cry, to apologize, or to scramble for her clothes and run. Instead, Sarah sat shivering on the mattress, her eyes wide with a terrifying mixture of fear and pity.
"Chloe, please, you have to listen to me,"she pleaded, her voice trembling.
"It’s not what you think. I didn’t come here to sleep with Mark. I came here to hide from him."
I let out a harsh, bitter laugh, tears finally spilling down my cheeks.
"Hide from him? In my bed? Do you really expect me to believe that?"I spat, my hands clenching into tight fists.

But Sarah didn't back down. With shaking hands, she reached for her purse on the nightstand and pulled out a thick manila folder, tossing it onto the mattress.
"Look at the papers, Chloe. Mark is in deep trouble. He owes half a million dollars to some incredibly dangerous people, and he used both of our names to secure the loans."
Stunned, I picked up the documents. As I flipped through the pages, my blood ran cold. There was my signature, forged with terrifying precision, authorizing a massive second mortgage on our home. On the next page was Sarah’s signature, fraudulently signing her up as a guarantor. She explained that men had shown up at her apartment the previous night, threatening her. She had fled to our house, knowing I was supposed to be away, desperately searching for the original deeds Mark had stolen from her safe.
Before I could even process the depth of my husband's betrayal, the heavy thud of the front door opening downstairs echoed through the house. Footsteps began to climb the wooden stairs, accompanied by low, menacing voices. Mark was home, and he had brought the creditors with him.
