Commander Matthew Ordered Me to Remove My Uniform—But My Tattoo Changed Everything
Previously: When Commander Matthew ordered Officer Samantha to remove her military jacket in front of the entire formation, he expected a minor infraction. Instead, a hidden tattoo reopened a devastating family secret.
Without waiting for Samantha’s reply, Commander Matthew grabbed her by the arm and dragged her out of the formation. The remaining soldiers watched in stunned silence as the commanding officer pulled her toward the administrative building, his grip tight but visibly trembling. He threw open the door to his private office, shoved her inside, and slammed the heavy wooden door, locking it securely behind them.
A Ghost from the Past
Samantha stumbled forward, quickly pulling her jacket back over her shoulders to cover herself. "Commander, with all due respect, what is the meaning of this? It's just a tattoo. I've had it since I was eighteen."

Matthew didn't answer immediately. He paced the room, his hands shaking so violently that he had to grip the edge of his mahogany desk to steady himself. When he turned back to her, his cold blue eyes were filled with unshed tears.
"That is not just a tattoo, Samantha," Matthew whispered, his voice cracking with an emotion she had never seen in him. "That is the crest of the Shadow Vanguard. A classified black-ops unit that was wiped out in an ambush fifteen years ago in the mountains of Afghanistan."
Samantha frowned, a cold knot of dread forming in her stomach. "My father was in the military, sir. But he died in a training accident when I was a child. His name was Sergeant Raymond Vance."
Matthew let out a ragged breath, dropping his head into his hands. "Raymond was my commanding officer. He designed that crest. And he didn't die in an accident, Samantha. He was betrayed. Our coordinates were leaked to the enemy by a mole high up in our own command. Raymond sacrificed himself so I could escape. He told me he had a daughter, but after the cover-up, she vanished into the foster care system."
Before Samantha could process the shocking truth about her father's death, a heavy, commanding knock rattled the office door. A booming voice called out from the hallway, making Matthew stiffen in terror.
"Commander Matthew, open this door immediately," the voice commanded. It was General Sterling, the highest-ranking official on the base, who had just arrived that morning.
Matthew grabbed Samantha’s shoulders, his whisper frantic. "Zip up your jacket! If Sterling sees that wolf, you're dead. He is the mole who murdered your father."
”He is the mole who murdered your father."
