Previously: When Leo's brilliant wire prototype is suddenly disqualified by a bitter judge at the national science convention, a sharp committee member steps forward to expose a shocking web of corporate greed.

A Web of Deceit

Arthur stiffened, a flicker of annoyance passing over his stern face before he quickly masked it with a patronizing sneer. He claimed there was a late-stage compliance issue regarding the originality of Leo's schematics. But Helen was not a woman to be easily intimidated. She stood her ground, demanding to see the official review documents. The surrounding crowd of spectators grew quiet, sensing the high-stakes drama unfolding before them.

That was when Arthur pulled a crisp, laminated folder from his leather briefcase. With a cold smirk, he slid a document across the table. It was a patent application for an identical clean-energy generator, dated a month before Leo’s official submission. The inventor listed on the patent was Julian Vance, the son of a prominent tech billionaire and one of the expo's primary sponsors.

"As you can see, young Leo here has plagiarized a patented design," Arthur said, his voice dripping with malice. "The rules are clear. Plagiarism is an automatic disqualification and grounds for legal action."

Leo stared at the document, his heart hammering in his chest. His eyes widened in horror as he saw his own signature at the bottom of a non-disclosure and transfer agreement. "Mom, I never signed this," Leo whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "I've never even seen this paper before!"

Sarah felt a wave of cold fury wash over her. She knew her son would never steal anyone's work, let alone forge a signature. She realized with terrifying clarity that Arthur, who had headed the preliminary safety review board three months ago, had stolen Leo's digital schematics and sold them to the billionaire's son. Now, he was using a forged document to silence them.

Arthur gestured to two security guards waiting at the end of the aisle. "Escort them out of the building," he ordered coldly. Helen looked at the forged document, then at the devastated mother and son, her hands clenched into tight fists as she realized the depth of the corruption before her.
