He Stole an Old Veteran's Pension, Unaware of the Powerful Man in the Convoy
Previously: When a corrupt city official tries to steal a homeless veteran's pension and pension documents, he thinks he's untouchable. But a single gold coin and a sudden military convoy change everything.
The Tables Turn
Raymond’s smug expression vanished in an instant, replaced by a look of sheer terror. His face drained of color as he looked from the four-star general to the heavily armed security guards who had quickly surrounded the perimeter. Trembling, the bureaucrat slowly bent down, picked up the gold challenge coin from the dusty concrete, and handed it over with shaking fingers.
General Sterling took the coin, wiped it clean with his thumb, and handed it back to Louis, offering a crisp, respectful salute.
"Good to see you, Sergeant Major,"the General said, his voice softening for a brief second before he turned back to Raymond. The temperature on the sidewalk seemed to drop twenty degrees as the General pointed at the clipboard.
"Hand it over. Now."

Raymond stammered, trying to make excuses about administrative errors and missing paperwork, but a stern look from one of the armed guards silenced him. He handed over the clipboard. As General Sterling flipped through the pages, his eyes narrowed into slits of pure anger. The documents revealed a massive, illegal operation. Raymond wasn't just delaying Louis’s pension; he was actively erasing the service records of dozens of elderly veterans, transferring their hard-earned benefits into a hidden offshore account.
Just then, another black sedan pulled up, and a man in a sharp grey suit stepped out carrying a leather briefcase. It was the federal prosecutor. He walked straight up to the group, looking at Raymond with a grim smile.
"We've been monitoring these accounts for months, General,"the prosecutor said.
"But we needed the physical clipboard to prove the manual overrides. Raymond, you are under arrest for federal embezzlement and treason against our nation's heroes."
As the guards handcuffed the weeping bureaucrat, the prosecutor turned to Louis, pulling a separate file from his briefcase.
"There is something else, Louis. Raymond didn't target you by accident. He was ordered to destroy your files by someone very high up."
