A Courageous Lieutenant Risks Everything to Expose a Military Coverup on the Tarmac
Previously: Lieutenant Amanda Vance faced a court-martial when she drew her weapon on Captain James Sterling, but she was about to uncover a conspiracy that went all the way to the top.
The Final Stand
With the mercenaries closing in, Amanda had to make a split-second decision. She lowered her weapon and grabbed the encrypted drive from James’s hand. They ran together toward the hangar, bullets tearing through the asphalt behind them. Under the cover of the F-15 jet, James pointed to a secure communications console.
"Upload the data to the federal server," James urged, defending the doorway with his sidearm. "It's the only way to expose them!"
Amanda’s fingers flew across the keyboard as the alarms blared. With seconds to spare, the progress bar reached one hundred percent. The truth was out; the encrypted files, containing the proof of Admiral Vance's innocence and the identities of the true conspirators, were sent directly to the Department of Justice and every major news outlet in the country.

Within minutes, the mercenary helicopters aborted their landing, realizing their mission was a failure and their employers were already being exposed. The threat was over, but the emotional cost was heavy. Amanda slumped against the console, tears finally slipping down her cheeks as she realized her father had been a hero until his very last breath.
James walked over, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You cleared his name, Amanda," he said softly. "He would be so proud of the officer you've become."
Standing on the quiet tarmac as the gloomy clouds finally began to part, Amanda realized that justice could not be buried forever, and sometimes, the people we think we are fighting are the only ones standing by our side.
