Marcus sneered at Dave, trying to use his managerial authority to intimidate the older man. "Get out of my way, buddy," Marcus snapped, waving his hand dismissively. "This is store business. She's a thief, and I'm calling the cops to have her escorted off the property in handcuffs."

Dave didn't flinch. He stood his ground, his voice echoing across the parking lot.

"I’ve known Amber for years, and she doesn't have a dishonest bone in her body. If there's a thief here, it isn't her. We’re going to look at those security cameras right now."

At the mention of the security cameras, a flicker of genuine panic crossed Marcus's eyes. He quickly recovered his smug expression, but the hesitation was obvious. "The security system is private company property," Marcus countered, his voice rising slightly. "Only authorized personnel can access it. Now step aside before I have you arrested for interfering with a police investigation."

But Dave had an ace up his sleeve. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "You think you're the big boss here, Marcus? You're just a shift manager. The owner of this entire regional chain is Arthur Sterling. He happens to be a very close friend of mine. I think he'd be very interested to hear how you're treating his employees and customers."

Marcus's face turned pale. He tried to claim Dave was bluffing, but his confidence was rapidly evaporating. Dave didn't hesitate; he dialed Arthur Sterling's personal number right in front of him. Within minutes, the owner himself answered, and Dave explained the situation, demanding an immediate review of the security footage. Marcus realized his web of lies was starting to untangle, and he desperately tried to think of a way out as they waited for the owner's arrival.
