Previously: When a wealthy woman mocked Olivia for falling in a busy mall, she never expected the woman's husband to recognize the gold chain on the floor—and a long-lost secret.

A Web of Lies Unravels

The silence that fell over the trio was deafening, drowning out the ambient noise of the crowded mall. Victoria stared at her husband, Marcus, her jaw slack with confusion. She had married him a year ago, believing him to be a successful, self-made real estate mogul from out of state. She had no idea about his past, nor did she know that his birth name was Daniel. To her, he was Marcus Vance, the wealthy man who had secured her high-society status.

"Marcus, what is the meaning of this?" Victoria stammered, her voice losing its icy composure. "Why is this... this charity case calling you Daniel? And what is that trashy tattoo?"

Daniel stood up slowly, helping Olivia to her feet with infinite tenderness. He kept one arm supportively around his sister's shoulders as he faced his wife. The warmth that Victoria was used to seeing in his eyes was entirely gone, replaced by a cold, burning fury.

"The 'charity case' you just insulted is my little sister, Olivia," Daniel said, his voice dangerously calm. "And my name is Daniel. I changed it years ago to build a new life, away from the toxic family we both ran from. But I never forgot her."

Victoria's face turned ash-white. She took a step back, her mind racing as she tried to connect the dots. She had spent the last five years boasting about how she had rightfully inherited her stepfather's wealth, conveniently omitting how she had forged the will and cast Olivia out onto the streets. She had never imagined that the man she married was the very brother Olivia had always talked about—the one who had run away a decade ago.

"Daniel, sweetie, you don't understand," Victoria lied frantically, reaching out to touch his arm. "She's unstable. She squandered her inheritance and left. I tried to help her, I swear!"

Olivia shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "That's not true! You locked me out, Victoria. You took everything and left me with nothing!" Daniel looked at his wife, his expression hardening. He knew exactly who was telling the truth.
