Previously: When newborn baby Leo flatlined in the NICU, his grieving parents prepared for the worst. But when nine-year-old Liam touched his brother, a medical miracle began.

A Dark Secret Unveiled

An hour after the miracle, Leo was declared stable. The doctors were baffled, unable to explain how a baby whose heart had stopped for over two minutes could suddenly recover with perfect vitals. Claire held Liam close, whispering prayers of gratitude, but the peace didn't last. As they walked out of the ward to get a cup of water, a tall man in a tailored dark suit stepped out of the shadows of the hallway.

"Mrs. Vance, Mr. Vance," the man said, his voice cold and clinical. "My name is Logan. I represent the Genesis Research Initiative. We've been looking for Liam."

Thomas immediately stepped in front of Claire and Liam, his posture defensive, but his face had gone completely pale. Claire felt a cold knot form in her stomach. Why would a medical research company be looking for her nine-year-old son? Logan smiled thinly and handed Claire a folder. Inside was a birth certificate from a private clinic in Switzerland, dated nine years ago. The mother's name was listed as a surrogate, and the father's name was... Thomas.

"What is this, Thomas?" Claire whispered, her voice trembling as she stared at the document. "Who is this woman? Liam was born in our local hospital!"

Logan chuckled, a sound devoid of any warmth. "Your husband has been lying to you for a decade, Claire. Liam isn't just your son. He is the product of an advanced genetic program. His touch didn't just heal Leo; it activated the bio-synthetic traits we engineered in him."

Claire looked at Thomas, hoping for a denial, but her husband couldn't meet her eyes. Tears of guilt streamed down his face. He confessed that before they met, he had signed up for a highly experimental trial to pay off his family's debts. He thought the program had failed, but nine years ago, they delivered Liam to him under the guise of an adoption, forcing him to sign a strict non-disclosure agreement to protect the child from being hunted.

"They want him back, Claire," Thomas sobbed. "And if we don't cooperate, they will shut down the life-support systems they secretly control for Leo."
