Previously: When Admiral Katherine walked down the aisle on her wedding day, she didn't expect her estranged father, William, to crash the ceremony with a threat that could destroy her career.

The Final Salute

For a brief moment, William believed he had achieved total victory. He held out a gold pen, expecting Katherine to capitulate to his demands. But as he stared into his daughter's eyes, he did not see fear. He saw the cold, calculating gaze of a military commander who was always three steps ahead.

Katherine let out a quiet, steady breath and smiled. It was a sharp, dangerous smile that made William's grin falter.

"You always underestimated me, William," Katherine said, her voice echoing with absolute authority. "You thought I didn't know you were tracking David's firm? I've been watching you for months. And I know all about the offshore accounts you used to hide bribes from foreign defense contractors during your own command."

William’s face drained of color. The gold pen slipped from his fingers, clattering onto the polished stone floor. Before he could speak, Katherine raised her hand and signaled the lead honor guard. But they weren't the only ones moving. Two federal marshals, dressed in sharp civilian suits, stepped out from the back of the cathedral.

"William Vance, you are under arrest for treason and financial fraud," one of the marshals announced, stepping forward and placing handcuffs on the retired captain's wrists.

As her father was led away in disgrace, the cathedral fell into a respectful silence. Katherine turned back toward the altar, smoothed her white dress uniform, and walked toward David. The ceremony proceeded beautifully, filled with love, honor, and the deep respect of everyone in attendance. Katherine had not only protected her country and her husband, but she had finally freed herself from the shadow of her father's tyranny. True leadership is not about forcing others to bow; it is about standing tall for those you love, no matter the cost.
