Justice for the Fallen
Clara’s heart hammered against her ribs, but as she looked at Buster, who had bared his teeth and let out a low, protective growl, a sudden wave of calm washed over her. She realized she wasn't alone. Before leaving the church, her sudden departure had drawn more than just Miller's attention. From the corner of her eye, she saw the other four deputies from the honor guard rounding the corner of the building, led by Sheriff Vance himself.
Miller didn't notice them yet, his focus entirely locked on Clara and the incriminating envelope.
"Just hand over the papers, Clara, and we can pretend you never found this,"Miller threatened, taking another step forward. But Clara didn't back down. Instead, she raised her voice, ensuring it carried across the quiet pavement.
"You killed him, Miller! You sabotaged his car because he found out you were selling out this town!"

Miller’s eyes widened in panic as he realized his mistake too late.
"Drop your weapon, Miller!"Sheriff Vance’s voice boomed across the lot. The four deputies drew their firearms, surrounding Miller before he could even think of escaping. It turned out that Thomas had sent an encrypted email to the Sheriff hours before his death, but without physical proof, Vance hadn't been able to make an arrest. Buster had just delivered the final, undeniable piece of evidence.
As Miller was led away in handcuffs, Clara fell to her knees and wrapped her arms around Buster’s neck, weeping tears of both sorrow and immense relief. Her husband’s honor had been restored, and his killers would finally face justice. Looking up at the clear blue sky, Clara knew that Thomas was finally at peace, his final watch successfully completed by the loyal companion who refused to let his sacrifice be forgotten.
