My Father Ruined My Wedding to Save Me From My Mother-in-Law’s Cruel Trap
Previously: At my gorgeous wedding, my father stood up, grabbed the microphone, and broke his promise to expose my mother-in-law's dark blackmail. I thought my life was over, but it was just the beginning.
The Unraveling of a Lie
The silence that followed my father’s words was deafening. I felt Julian’s hand tighten around mine, his brow furrowed in deep confusion. "Sarah? What secret?" he whispered, looking between me and my father. Before I could find the words to lie, to smooth things over as I had planned, Eleanor stood up. The scraping of her chair against the marble floor sounded like a gunshot.
"Thomas, you’ve clearly had too much to drink," Eleanor said, her voice dripping with forced condescension. "Please sit down before you ruin your daughter's special day." She waved a hand dismissively toward the security staff near the entrance. "Guards, please assist Mr. Vance out of the hall. He is not well."

But my father did not budge. As two burly security guards began walking down the center aisle, Thomas pulled a thick manila envelope from the inside pocket of his suit jacket. He held it high for everyone to see.
"I am perfectly sober, Eleanor, and I will not let you bully my daughter for one more second!" Thomas bellowed, his voice booming through the speakers. "Three years ago, Sarah donated her kidney to save my life. She didn't sell it, and she didn't scam anyone. But you, Eleanor, used your bank to threaten my business and blackmail Sarah into signing a post-nuptial agreement that strips her of her rights and her future children!"
Gasps of shock erupted from the guests. Julian let go of my hand, his face draining of color. He turned to his mother, his voice trembling. "Mother... is this true? What post-nup?"
Eleanor’s elegant facade completely shattered. Her face contorted in rage. "She is a gold-digger, Julian! I did what was necessary to protect our family's legacy! She dragged her pathetic, bankrupt father into our lives!" She pointed a shaking finger at the guards. "Throw him out! Now!"
The guards grabbed my father’s arms. I stood up, tears streaming down my face, ready to scream, ready to tear the wedding dress to pieces just to get to him. The dream wedding had devolved into a nightmare, and the family I was marrying into was crumbling before my eyes.
