Previously: When Sarah took her son Leo to the airport, she never expected him to stop dead in his tracks—confronting an identical twin boy wearing rags and a metallic tag marked "BABY #2".

The Darkest Betrayal

The woman in the ragged coat grabbed Rowan's arm, her eyes wide with terror. "We have to go. We shouldn't be here," she stammered, trying to pull the boy into the crowd. But Sarah stood up, blocking her path. Her maternal instincts took over, a fierce fire burning through her shock.

"Who are you? And why does this boy have my son's face?" Sarah demanded, her voice shaking with a mixture of rage and desperation. "Tell me the truth!"

The woman looked around fearfully before slumping in defeat. "My name is Evelyn. I was a nurse at the St. Jude Private Clinic five years ago," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the airport noise. "Your husband, Richard... and his wealthy father. They paid the chief of medicine to declare your second twin stillborn. They only wanted one heir to inherit the family empire. They ordered us to quietly send Rowan to an offshore state facility."

Sarah felt as if the ground had opened up beneath her. She remembered the agonizing grief of being told her second baby hadn't survived. She remembered Richard holding her as she cried, whispering that it was for the best. It had all been a monstrous lie.

"I couldn't do it," Evelyn wept, clutching Rowan close. "I couldn't let them discard a healthy baby. So, I took him and ran. We’ve been living in hiding, moving from town to town, working odd jobs just to survive."

Before Sarah could process the devastating revelation, a familiar voice called out from behind. "Sarah? Leo? What's going on here?"

Sarah spun around to see Richard walking toward them, his expensive designer coat draped over his shoulders. But as his eyes drifted from Sarah to the dusty boy standing next to Leo, the color drained from his face. The confident smile vanished, replaced by an expression of sheer horror.
