Previously: When Specialist Lauren stood before General Scott with a bruised face, her defiant answer sparked an explosive confrontation that exposed a high-ranking officer's darkest betrayal.

As the military police stepped forward to take Lauren’s credentials, she refused to let her head fall. She looked past the MPs, straight at General Scott.

The Final Play

"Sir, if you look at the digital signatures on those evaluations, you will find they were authorized using a security key that was checked out to Major Vance’s terminal last night—hours after he assaulted me," Lauren said, her voice echoing with absolute authority. "And if you check the base mainframes right now, you will find a secure file I uploaded to the Inspector General's secure server at 0600 this morning, containing full video footage of the hangar."

Major Vance’s smug expression instantly withered. His face drained of color as he stared at Lauren, realization dawning on him. He had thought she was a helpless victim, but she was a highly trained intelligence specialist.

General Scott’s cold demeanor suddenly vanished, replaced by a grim smile. He handed the forged papers back to his aide without looking at them.

"Good work, Specialist," General Scott said, his voice warm. "We already received the Inspector General's report. I needed Vance to present those forged documents in front of this entire panel to seal his own fate for obstruction of justice and forgery."

Before Vance could utter a word of defense, General Scott turned a freezing gaze upon him.

"MPs, arrest Major Vance. Strip him of his rank and take him to maximum security," General Scott commanded.

As the MPs dragged a shouting, desperate Vance out of the hall, General Scott stepped up to Lauren and saluted her.

"You showed true courage today, soldier. Your courage has saved this base from deep rot."

Lauren returned the salute, her heart finally finding peace. She realized that while betrayal could live in the dark corners of the military, true honor would always find a way to shine through the darkness.
