The elegant garden erupted into chaos. Chloe’s mother gasped, clutching her chest, while guests whispered furiously. Chloe felt as though the earth had split open beneath her feet. She looked from David’s pale, trembling face to the two innocent girls who were now looking around in confusion.

"David, what is the meaning of this?" Chloe demanded, her voice shaking as she clutched her silk white dress. "Who is she?"

David stammered, unable to find his words. Elise stepped forward, her heels clicking sharply against the stone path. She explained to the stunned crowd that she and David had been in a committed relationship years ago, right before he moved away to start his high-paying corporate job.

"You didn't know?" Elise asked bitterly. "Then why did your lawyer threaten me with a harassment lawsuit when I tried to send you their DNA results? You wanted to erase us so you could marry into Chloe’s wealthy family."

Chloe felt a wave of nausea. The truth was laid bare before her. David hadn't just made a mistake in his past; he had actively, legally blocked his own children to protect his reputation and his access to Chloe’s family fortune. The man she loved was a stranger.
