Previously: When a power-tripping airport security guard accused Lieutenant Marcus Hayes of wearing a stolen Navy uniform, he thought he was exposing a fraud. But a sudden PA announcement changed everything.

The sudden silence in the terminal was deafening. The onlookers who had been filming with their phones began to whisper, their judgmental glares shifting from Marcus to the visibly trembling security guard. Thomas’s face flushed a deep, embarrassed red. His hands shook, but his pride refused to let him back down in front of a crowd of civilians.

A Desperate Cover-Up

Instead of apologizing, Thomas tightened his grip on Marcus's arm, trying to save face. "This proves nothing!" he stammered, his voice cracking. "Anyone could have arranged a fake announcement. Show me your military identification right now, or I will have you arrested for resisting a security officer!"

Marcus did not flinch. "My ID is in my pocket, sir. But you told me not to move my hands. I suggest you let go of me first."

Before Thomas could respond, the crowd parted as two armed Military Police officers marched into the terminal. Right behind them was Captain Arthur Vance, a senior naval commander whose stern expression radiated pure authority. The MPs immediately flanked Thomas, their hands resting on their gear, while Captain Vance stepped directly into the guard's personal space.

"Is there a problem here, officer?" Captain Vance asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Thomas swallowed hard, his previous bravado completely vanishing. He quickly released Marcus’s arm and tried to stand at attention, though his knees were visibly shaking.

"Captain! This man was acting suspiciously," Thomas lied, desperate to protect his job. "I suspected stolen valor and was simply performing a routine check to protect the integrity of the uniform."

Captain Vance looked at Marcus, noting the scuff marks on his uniform from being slammed against the pillar, and then looked back at Thomas with ice in his eyes. The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife.
