Before Thomas could escalate his physical assault any further, the terminal's public address system crackled to life with a deafening hum. A commanding voice cut through the whispers of the crowd, echoing off the high concrete ceilings.

"Lieutenant Marcus Hayes, United States Navy, report immediately to the military escort post. Everyone else, step back."

The words hit the concourse like a physical blow. The angry sneer on Thomas’s face instantly froze, dissolving into a mask of pure shock and creeping dread. His grip on Marcus’s collar loosened, and he took a slow, trembling step backward. The realization of his colossal mistake began to dawn on him as the crowd's murmurs shifted from condemnation of Marcus to mockery of the guard.

Desperate to save himself from the consequences of assaulting an active-duty officer, Thomas panicked. He quickly tried to fabricate a story, claiming he was simply performing a routine security check. But his stuttering excuses were cut short as two armed military police officers pushed through the crowd, accompanied by Admiral Joseph Vance, a high-ranking naval commander.

Seeing the Admiral, Thomas’s face drained of all color. Yet, cornered and terrified of losing his pension, the guard made a reckless, final gamble. He pointed a shaking finger at Marcus and lied to the arriving officers.

"He threatened me!" Thomas yelled, his voice cracking. "He told me he would use his rank to destroy my life! Check the security cameras, he was aggressive first!"

The Admiral stopped, his stern gaze shifting between the sweating security guard and Marcus. The military police stood poised, waiting for orders, as Thomas desperately tried to weaponize the silent security footage to paint himself as the victim.
