His Mother Sent a Casket to Our Wedding But We Had the Last Laugh
Previously: When my wealthy mother-in-law sent a black casket to our wedding to intimidate us, she did not realize we had already uncovered her darkest secrets.
A Cold Confrontation
Our laughter was abruptly cut short as the heavy iron gates at the entrance of the forest clearing creaked open. A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the assembly. Framed by the greenery stood Eleanor, dressed in an extravagant, high-fashion black lace gown. She walked down the aisle with the slow, deliberate pace of a grieving widow, flanked by two burly private security guards. She expected to find me in tears and Justin begging for her forgiveness. Instead, she found us smiling.
Her face twisted in absolute venom as she stopped right in front of the casket. "Is this a joke to you?" she hissed, her voice cutting through the crisp forest air like a blade. "You dare to mock my warning? Justin, this is your absolute last chance. Walk away from this girl now, or you will be completely written out of the family estate. You will leave here with nothing but the clothes on your back."

Justin took a step forward, gently pulling me close to his side. The amusement had faded from his eyes, replaced by a cold, unwavering determination.
"You really shouldn't have sent this casket, Mother,"he said, his voice remarkably calm.
"Because it gave us the perfect, secure place to store some very important family heirlooms."
Eleanor’s brow furrowed, a flicker of unease crossing her features. "What nonsense are you talking about?" she snapped. Justin reached into his tuxedo pocket and pulled out a small, gleaming silver key. He patted the cold metal of the casket.
"We spent the entire night with Dad's former business partner,"Justin explained, his voice echoing through the silent forest.
"The one you accused of embezzlement ten years ago. The one you ruined to protect yourself. He kept all the original files, Eleanor. And we put them right inside here."
”And we put them right inside here."
