Previously: During a lavish dinner, Emily’s husband boasts about ruining her brother's career. Little does he know, his confession is being recorded, and Emily is holding all the cards.

The elegant atmosphere of the restaurant seemed to vanish, replaced by a suffocating tension. John’s boisterous laughter died down, his expression hardening into a cold, menacing sneer. He didn't look remorseful; instead, he looked annoyed that his moment of triumph was being interrupted.

The Ultimate Betrayal

"Sit down, Michael," John hissed, his voice low and dangerous. "This is how the real world works. David was weak. He was in my way, and I did what was necessary to secure our future. Emily understands that, don't you, darling?"

John reached out and grabbed Emily’s wrist, his grip tight and commanding. Emily looked down at her husband, the man she had loved and trusted for five years, and felt a wave of nausea. He was a monster. The luxury lifestyle she had enjoyed was built on the ruined life of her own brother.

Michael stepped forward, his fists clenched at his sides. "Let her go, John. Right now. Or I swear to God, I will make sure the board hears about this tomorrow morning."

John let out a dry, mocking chuckle and released Emily's wrist, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. He stood up, straightening his black tuxedo jacket, looking down at them both with supreme confidence.

"Go ahead, tell the board," John sneered. "And Emily, if you're thinking of leaving, you might want to check your family's trust fund. I transferred the last of those assets to my offshore accounts last week. You have nothing. If you walk out that door, you walk out with absolutely zero."

Emily stared at him, her mind racing. The betrayal was absolute. He had not only destroyed her brother, but he had also stolen her family’s remaining inheritance, leaving her completely vulnerable. Or so he thought.
