Previously: When David stopped by a local burger joint for a late-night meal, a shocking discovery inside his hamburger exposed his wife's web of lies and changed his life forever.

A Sweet Dish of Justice

The door swung open to reveal Chloe sitting on Greg's desk, holding a glass of expensive champagne, her face instantly turning white as she saw her husband standing in the doorway. Greg jumped up, his arrogant expression quickly turning into a smug sneer. He adjusted his collar and stepped in front of Chloe, trying to look intimidating.

"What are you doing here, David?" Chloe stammered, trying to find her voice. "This isn't what it looks like. We were just... discussing business."

David didn't say a word. He simply walked forward and dropped the grease-stained wedding ring into her champagne glass with a soft clink. Greg laughed, a cruel, mocking sound. "Look, buddy, you're just a broke construction worker. Chloe deserves a man who can actually buy her nice things, not someone who smells like sawdust. Get out of my office before I have you arrested for trespassing."

Instead of exploding, a strange, calm serenity washed over David. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number on speakerphone. A voice answered immediately: "Good evening, Mr. Vance. How can I help you?" It was Arthur, the city's premier commercial real estate attorney. David looked directly into Greg's eyes, which were suddenly filled with confusion.

"Arthur," David said clearly. "I am standing inside the Burger Haven on 5th Street. I believe the tenant, Greg Miller, is requesting a lease renewal for next month. I want you to formally deny it. As the sole owner of this commercial plaza, I am exercising my right to terminate his occupancy. He has twenty-four hours to pack up and vacate my property."

The room fell dead silent. Greg’s jaw dropped, and the champagne glass slipped from Chloe's hand, shattering on the floor. She had never known that David’s family owned the massive real estate firm that controlled half the commercial properties in the city; David had insisted on working hard with his hands, wanting to build a life based on love rather than inherited wealth. In her greed, Chloe had thrown away a devoted, secretly wealthy husband for a manager who was now completely ruined. David turned on his heel and walked out into the cool night air, finally free of the lies, ready to build a much better future on his own terms.
