Previously: Clara stood crying on a crowded New York subway, staring at her indifferent husband. She held a positive pregnancy test, but she also held the proof of his ultimate betrayal.

Clara took a deep, shuddering breath, steadying her trembling hands. She reached into her tote bag and pulled out Mark’s iPad, which she had taken from his desk. Step by step, she walked over and stood directly in front of him, blocking his view. Without a word, she dropped the device onto his lap, right over his active phone screen. The screen of the iPad was unlocked, displaying the damning text messages between him and Sarah, alongside the bank transfer receipts.

Mark flinched, startled, and looked up with a frown. "What is this, Clara? Can't you see I'm busy?" he snapped, his voice sharp. But as his eyes fell on the glowing screen, his annoyance instantly melted into sheer panic. The color drained from his face, leaving him pale under the subway's fluorescent glare.

The Confrontation Underground

"Clara, wait," he stammered, his voice dropping to a panicked whisper as he scrambled to lock the screen. "This isn't what it looks like. Let's talk about this when we get home. Don't make a scene here."

But Clara had reached her limit. "There is no home, Mark," she said, her voice carrying over the rumble of the train, drawing the attention of nearby passengers. "You took our savings. Our house fund. And you spent it on a condo in Miami with my sister. How could you?"

Seeing that he was trapped, Mark's demeanor suddenly shifted. The panicked, apologetic husband vanished. He stood up, towering over her, his face hardening into a cruel sneer. He whispered viciously, so only she could hear.

"Fine. You want the truth? I don't love you anymore, Clara. I haven't for years. Sarah actually makes me happy. And as for the money? It's already in an offshore account. You can't touch it. You've lost, Clara. Just accept it and let me go."

He smiled, a smug, victorious grin that made Clara’s stomach turn. He truly believed he had stripped her of everything, leaving her powerless on a dirty subway car. He had no idea she was holding one final, devastating card.
