Michael’s face drained of all color. His lawyer quickly stepped back, raising his hands in defeat.

"Michael, I told you we shouldn't have come here," his lawyer whispered in terror. "This is a losing battle. I am withdrawing from this case immediately."

Richard stood up, his towering frame casting a long shadow over the trembling Michael.

"As of nine o'clock this morning, I have foreclosed on your mansion," Richard declared. "You and your mother have exactly twenty-four hours to vacate the premises. And the police are already on their way to your mother's house to arrest her for forgery, fraud, and physical assault against my daughter."

Michael fell to his knees, begging Jessica for mercy, pleading for the sake of their unborn child. But Jessica looked away, feeling nothing but cold indifference for the man who had allowed her to be abused.
