Previously: When Mark came home to find his newborn twins abandoned with a cryptic note pointing to his own mother, he uncovered a dark family secret that threatened to tear his world apart.

I carefully packed the boys into their car seats, my mind spinning with a thousand terrifying scenarios. Within twenty minutes, I was pulling up the grand driveway of my mother’s estate. Helen was a woman of immense influence and wealth, accustomed to getting exactly what she wanted. I stormed into her pristine living room, finding her calmly reading a book by the fireplace.

The Confrontation

"What did you do to Sarah?" I demanded, slamming the note onto the coffee table. Helen didn't even flinch. She slowly closed her book, sighed, and looked at me with a mixture of pity and cold calculation. Without saying a word, she reached into her drawer and tossed a manila envelope toward me.

"I saved you from a lifetime of deception, Mark," she said smoothly. "Open it and see the kind of woman you married."

Inside was a document bearing the logo of a prominent local laboratory. It was a DNA paternity test, declaring that I was not the biological father of Leo and Toby. My chest tightened, a suffocating wave of betrayal washing over me. But as I stared at the paper, my analytical mind took over. I noticed the date. The test was supposedly processed a week before the twins were even born. It was an impossible timeline.

"This is a fake," I whispered, looking up at my mother’s pale face. "You forged this to drive her away." When I threatened to call the police, Helen’s composure finally shattered. She admitted she had threatened to use her wealth to ruin Sarah’s family and take the babies away forever if Sarah didn't leave immediately. Just then, my phone buzzed. It was a text from an unknown number: "Mark, I’m at the old train station. I can't live without my babies, but I can't let your mother destroy my family. Please forgive me."
