Previously: After a devastating delivery, Thomas was told he lost everything. But a courageous nurse's whisper led him down a hidden corridor to a miracle he never expected.

The Confrontation in Wing C

The fragile peace of the nursery was abruptly shattered. The heavy double doors of Wing C swung open with a deafening thud, and the sharp click of leather shoes echoed against the tile. Thomas spun around, instinctively shielding the twins with his body. Standing in the doorway was Arthur Vance, his tailored suit immaculate, his face a mask of cold fury. Behind him stood two burly private security guards and a pair of high-priced lawyers.

"You always were a fool, Thomas," Arthur sneered, his voice dripping with condescension. "Did you really think you could slip past my security? Put those children back in their incubators. They do not belong to you."

Thomas felt a fire ignite deep within his chest, replacing his fear with absolute resolve. "They are my daughters, Arthur! You lied to me. You paid off the doctor to tell me they were dead so you could steal them from me and Sarah!"

Arthur chuckled, a chilling sound that made Thomas’s blood run cold. "And who do you think the authorities will believe? A grieving, hysterical paramedic who broke into a secure neonatal unit, or a prominent philanthropist? I have already filed temporary custody papers under the assumption that you are mentally unstable. If you do not hand them over right now, my men will take them, and you will spend the next ten years behind bars for kidnapping."

The security guards took a menacing step forward, their hands resting near their belts. Thomas backed up against the wall, his heart hammering against his ribs. He looked down at his daughters, who were starting to stir and whimper. He was outnumbered, out-funded, and completely cornered. It seemed like his wealthy father-in-law had won, and Thomas was about to lose his family forever.
