They Said Her Military Career Was Over, But One Impossible Shot Changed Everything
Previously: After a devastating injury, sniper Sarah was written off by the military. When a hostage crisis demands an impossible shot, she must defy her instructor and face her deepest fears.

The voice of the rescue team leader on the ground was panicked. "Sniper, hold your fire! We have a secondary device!" he yelled over the static. "There's a pressure-plate explosive rigged to the hostages. If anyone moves, the whole compound blows!"
Sarah zoomed in, her fingers adjusting the scope's parallax. Through the swirling dust, she spotted it: a thin copper wire stretching across the doorway, tensioned to a detonator. If she could sever that wire with a bullet, the system would fail-safe. But the wire was less than a millimeter thick, swaying gently in the desert breeze.

"Sarah, don't even think about it," John warned, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "A millimeter target at two thousand yards? If you graze the plate or hit the detonator, you will kill all three of our men. I am ordering you to stand down."
But Sarah knew the rescue team didn't have time. The dust storm was worsening, and the hostages were panicking. If one of them shifted their weight even slightly, the pressure plate would trigger. She could see the fear in the young soldiers' eyes through her lens.
John reached out to grab the barrel of her rifle, intending to physically prevent her from taking the shot. Sarah looked up, her blue eyes flashing with a fierce determination that made him pause. "If I stand down, they die, John. You know the bomb squad won't make it in time through this storm. Let me do my job."
John's hand hovered over the weapon. He was torn between military protocol and the lives of his men. The radio screamed with another warning—one of the hostages was losing his footing. Time had run out. Sarah realigned her sight, her injured shoulder screaming in protest as she prepared to make a shot that defied the laws of physics.
