Previously: When a ruthless inmate corners Amy demanding her pristine white sneakers, she refuses to back down. But these shoes hold a secret that could change both of their lives forever.

The Secret in the Soles

As Beatrice held her pinned against the rattling fence, she leaned in closer, whispering a chilling revelation. "Your sister Clara thought she was clever," Beatrice hissed. "But the boss knows what she hid in those shoes. And I'm going to deliver it to him." Before Amy could process the shock, the shrill wail of a guard's whistle pierced the yard. Two guards rushed over, pulling Beatrice back. She glared at Amy, mouth curling into a sinister grin as she was led away.

Back in her cell, Amy’s mind raced. Beatrice was working for Marcus—Amy’s corrupt ex-husband who had framed her for his corporate embezzlement scheme to save himself. Clara had been working to clear Amy's name before her mysterious "accident." Trembling, Amy sat on her bunk and carefully inspected the white sneakers. Pressing hard against the inner sole of the left shoe, she felt a slight, unnatural stiffness.

Using a small piece of loose wire from her bedframe, she meticulously pried open a hidden seam beneath the lining. To her astonishment, a tiny, plastic-wrapped micro-SD card slipped out. This was the evidence Clara had gathered—the financial records and offshore account details that proved Marcus's guilt and Amy's absolute innocence.

But Amy's discovery was cut short. That evening, during the scheduled block transition, the lights suddenly flickered and went out. A security override had locked the cell doors open, and the guards were nowhere to be seen. From the shadows of the corridor, Beatrice emerged, flanked by two of her loyal followers. They stepped into Amy's cell, blocking the only exit.

"Playtime is over, Amy," Beatrice sneered, pulling a makeshift shank from her jumpsuit. "Hand over the card and the shoes, or you won't live to see your appeal."
