Previously: When Chloe refused to hand over her worn-out sneakers to the prison yard bully, nobody understood why. But those shoes held a secret that could destroy the warden's entire empire.

An Alliance for Justice

Instead of delivering the expected blow, Bertha let out a guttural roar and threw a wild, theatrical punch that intentionally missed Chloe’s face, striking the fence beside her head. She grabbed Chloe by the arm, dragging her toward the dirt, making it look like a brutal struggle.

"You're coming with me to the infirmary, trash!" Bertha yelled for the benefit of the watching guards.

Under her breath, she whispered to Chloe to keep quiet and play along. The guards, satisfied that Bertha was handling the situation, opened the gate to the medical wing. Once inside and away from the cameras, Bertha stood guard while Chloe quickly sliced open the inner sole of her left sneaker. With trembling fingers, she pulled out the tiny, plastic-coated micro-SD card.

Just then, the heavy steel doors of the medical wing opened, and Warden Vance walked in, flanked by two armed guards and a stern-looking woman in a dark business suit—the lead federal inspector. Vance's eyes instantly locked onto Chloe's torn sneaker, a smug grin spreading across his face.

"Well, what do we have here? It seems we caught an inmate trying to smuggle contraband," Vance declared, reaching out his hand. "Hand it over."

But before Vance could step closer, Bertha stepped in front of him, blocking his path with her massive frame. In that split second of distraction, Chloe bypassed the warden entirely and lunged toward the federal inspector, thrusting the micro-SD card into her hand.

"This is the digital ledger of Warden Vance's illegal operations, including the murder of guard Leo Carter," Chloe cried out. "The decryption key is his own badge number."

The inspector’s face hardened as she pocketed the card and signaled her federal agents, who immediately disarmed Vance's guards. Within weeks, the warden was behind bars, and Chloe was fully exonerated. Standing outside the prison gates as a free woman, Chloe looked down at her old white sneakers and smiled, knowing her brother's legacy had finally brought them both justice.
