Previously: When an arrogant shooting instructor challenged a quiet woman to prove herself on the firing line, he had no idea she was the daughter of the man he betrayed.

The Ghost of Thomas Vance

As the final echo of the seventh shot faded into the canyon, a heavy silence fell over the range. The spectators were speechless, staring at the shattered targets and then at the unassuming woman in the grey jacket. Jack slowly lowered his binoculars, his face pale under his tan cap. He removed his sunglasses, his eyes wide with a mixture of shock and sudden recognition. The rhythm of her shots, the flawless stance, and the impossible grouping of the bullets—there was only one person in the world who could shoot like that.

"Who are you?" Jack whispered, his voice cracking as he stepped closer. "Where did you learn to shoot like that?"

Clara turned her head, looking him dead in the eye. She pulled down her safety glasses, revealing the fierce, unmistakable gaze of a Vance.

"You know exactly who I am, Jack,"
she said, her voice cutting through the desert breeze.
"You stole my father's legacy, framed him for your crimes, and left him to die in disgrace. But you forgot one thing. He taught me everything he knew."

Jack’s eyes narrowed as the realization hit him. The daughter of Thomas Vance had returned. He knew that if she exposed the truth, his entire multi-million-dollar empire would crumble. He glanced around at the spectators, then gave a subtle, dark nod to two of his heavily armed range guards. They began to close in, their hands resting menacingly on their holsters.

"This is private property, Clara," Jack sneered, his voice dropping to a threatening whisper. "And accidents happen out here all the time. You should have stayed a ghost."

Clara stood her ground, her fingers still resting near the rifle's trigger, but she was outnumbered and outgunned. Just as the guards prepared to disarm her, the roar of an engine shattered the tension. A dark black SUV with government plates tore through the dust, screeching to a halt right beside the firing line.
